From Florac-Trois-Rivières, drive to Hures-La-Parade for about 30 minutes and enter the
Przewalski's horse protection site run by the
TAKH association. The charity is committed to preserving the species and reintroducing it to its natural environment, the
Mongolian steppes, using a scientific approach. Once you have arrived, you will be able to admire the grandiose views of the
Causse Méjean, with its landscapes as far as the eye can see, reminiscent of Mongolia. A real call to an escape!
On site, you will have a choice of
guided tours offered by TAKH to explore its unique reserve. For a first sense of wonder, opt for the immersive
Discovery tour (duration: 2 h), which will take you to the heart of Przewalski's horse reserve. You will be guided across the steppes to observe these horses in their natural environment, while learning the fascinating story of their
reintroduction. The price of a visit starts at €55 for an adult (reduced rates for children, students, and groups).
For the ones among you willing to go into the project in depth, the
Scientific Monitoring tour (duration: 3 h) takes you behind the scenes of the conservation work. Guided by an expert, you will discover the
scientific methods used to monitor and protect the horses, while actively contributing to their
preservation. A visit costs from €95 for an adult; please visit the TAKH website or call them to book your visit.
For those of you who love nature and biodiversity, the site also offers you the chance to enjoy a unique experience: a four-day stay offering a
total immersion in the
TAKH project. If you would like to get up close and personal with Przewalski's horses and take part in the association's
actions in the field, this stay is for you. You will also be able to get closer to other species, while benefiting from the scientific eye of your guides for an exciting
exploration of the local flora and fauna!
After this dive into nature, do not hesitate to linger and visit the
hamlet of Hures-La-Parade, that is not to be missed. It is an untouched place, where time seems to have stood still: discover buildings with
typical architecture scattered across the limestone meadows, in a landscape as fascinating as it is rugged.
If you are still craving breathtaking panoramic views, there are plenty of
hiking trails around Hures-La-Parade to explore the Causse Méjean. There are also plenty of activities to
learn more about rural life in the Lozère, such as a visit to the
Ferme Caussenarde d'Autrefois.
